Griper Grass

Griper Grass is widespread in high altitude wetlands and colder climates all across Emynea but most of all in Skaney. They are most known for two qualities, the first being the cotton-like flower that blooms every year, each fluffy seed gliding freely on the plentiful electrical currents of Eldingfjord or along fluttering snow in arctic regions. The second quality is the tendency for its clonal growths to attach to passeryby! Well adapted to life in Skaney, these hardy sedges lap up electricity or acid--some might even call this species greedy or glutonous!

First Ability

Beranok's Diet
Grasses with Beranok's Diet can consume electricity for sustenance, to heal or to replenish magic. Cannot be harmed by electricity but instead abosrbs it, whether this is natural or magical.

Ylixa's Diet
Those with Ylixa's Diet can consume acid, enzymes and energy from chemical reactions for sustenance, to heal or to replenish magic. Cannot be harmed by these materials or energy but instead abosrbs it, whether this is natural or magical. This ability is most common to Griper Grass residing in Syremyr, thriving in its acid bogs.

Vekaltor's Diet
(Snow)

Those with Vekaltor's Diet can consume snow and arctic winds for sustenance, to heal or to replenish magic. Cannot be harmed by these these weather patterns but instead abosrbs it, whether this is natural or magical.
Second Ability

Beranok's Movement
Thanks to Beranok's Movement, these grasses are able to ride or move on electrical charges including lightning and even briefly transform into electricity, ride along a current and reform elsewhere. Cottongrass seed heads are able to zip and travel along electical charges plentiful in Eldingfjord or þorreyjar in order to disperse widely.

Maroksi's Touch
Griper with Maroksi's Touch can infect a target with clonal growths of itself or attach cottony seeds. These will consume organic material or the energy of a target in order to grow or, far more often, simply attach seed pods to a target until they scratch them off elsewhere. The longer they can maintain contact, the more seed heads or clones they can attach. Most often these are attached to passing people or grazers to propogate their seeds.

Vekaltor's Movement
(Snow)
Those with Vekaltor's Movement are able to ride or move on falling snow and arctic winds, even briefly transforming into snow, ride the wind and reform elsewhere. Cottongrass seed heads are able to zip and travel along fluttering snow in order to disperse more widely.

Steppe
Griper grass is widespread in colder climates, especially in higher altitudes and apline regions which includes the Frozen Wastes, Continent Beyond, Ural'skaya Belt, Mongol Uls and Nordreyjar. Yet it is most common in Skaney, especially Eldingfjord and Syremyr. It grows alongside othe grasses and sedges wherever the soil is moist. In fact, Griper Grass needs wet if not unundated soil, growing in bogs, swawps, tundra, fens, wet meadows, river terraces, drainage slopes and flood plains. It especially thrives in soil rich with organic content such as peat. Otherwise, it may grow in silty, rocky soil rich in calcium.

Achene
The feathery flowers of Griper Grass bloom in the summertime, shooting up high above the rest of its leaves. Each flower consists of a single white, cotton-like ball which acts as both the plant's flower and shelters the fruit. That fruit is an oval shaped achene, contained within silky bristles which are the fibrous cotton they are so well known for. Its seeds are then dispersed by wind!
