Hylfel Llaren Character in Enaros | World Anvil

Hylfel Llaren

Hylfel Llaren (a.k.a. Hyl)

CW: manipulation and abuse. Please take care of yourself if you read this.

Hylfel is mentioned in Inarora's Excursion as one of Inarora's main bully, given Hylfel has manipulated Inarora in the past. They know she is naïve and a people-pleaser, and knows that if they want something they can ask her, knowing full well she has a hard time saying 'no'. The other thing too is being able to manipulate Inarora into self-deprecation (such as Inarora being considered 'cringe' when she first started her hyperfixation in Saato.

Hylfel is also known to love-bomb Inarora, of course rather selectively. After a fight, Hylfel would offer as much time, energy, and sometimes even gift-giving as they could for Inarora, making her feel wanted and appreciated.

Hyl would also give the silent treatment, ghosting Inarora's messages and ignoring her in school. This is usually a few months or so after a fight followed by love-bombing. They would shut down communication as a form of punishment. Inarora would get upset about about it, she'd lash out, Hyl would lash back, and all of a sudden they're talking again, returning her messages, more time to hang out with her. Until the cycle repeats again.

In the past, when Inarora would get upset about the lack of communication, Hyl would blame Inarora for it, insisting it was punishment for "stepping out of line" (Not those exact words or phrasing, but it would be along those lines). They would also throw in excuses for their behavior as well.

Hyl is also known for their passive-aggressiveness, sometimes being sarcastic and sometimes offering backhanded compliments. They would especially do it in order to dismiss Inarora's artistic abilities, thinking their art was far more superior than Ina's and was less worthy of attention and consideration. This (will) happen once or twice at a Molthía Larénge festival in future books.
