Milana: City of Peace

Before the current Era, Milana was not known to be a refuge. It was simply another part of Rhanalan that was there. However, when humans began trying to colonize Rhanalan, people from the northern region were pushed south and Milana found itself as one of the southern refuges of the country. Naa'rani humans designated southern parts of Rhanalan as 'safe zones' for the original inhabitants. However, the original people did not appreciate this. And even then, sometimes humans did throw some devastation to those said safe zones, Milana being one of them.

  • Government

Milana is a municipality, with a strong city commission form of government, with one commissioner elected to act as a mayor for honorific purposes. In reality, mayor serves as a chair head but has no real power over the rest of the commission. Other commissioners are designated as executive heads for specific functions of the municipality. As a whole, however, the commission itself is responsible for taxation, appropriations, ordinances, and other general functions.

    Defences

There are no fortifications around Milana anymore. There used to be during times of war, but have since been taken down since their newfound freedom after the Second Intra-Continental War.

    Tourism

In today's world, it is a popular destination for its beautiful beaches and resorts. Unfortunately, during the 300s, it was far from a tourist destination due to the constant strife brought about by Naa'rani humans. In fact, after the first Intra-Continental War, the northern part of the city had been razed to the ground out of spite for the native Rhanalanian population.

When people tour Milana, they do typically visit the beaches. However, another popular destination in Milana is the Intra-Continental War Museum, where they can experience the turbulent recent history for themselves. The museum has bits of the city which had been razed to the ground, an old tank humans created with old blueprints, and much more.

    Geography

The City of Peace is nestled right on the edge of the Rhanalanian island, with its neighbor being the Gulf of Rhanalan. The beaches are made with a light pink sand and the water is so crystal clear you can see to the bottom. On a clear day on the beach, one can see the islands of Coatzahua in the horizon.

    Climate

With the city being close to the equator, it's climate is generally considered to be hot and semi-arid. They receive about 10 to 20 inches of rain annually, and typically occurs in the summer months. However, given its proximity to the gulf, it does have the potential to encounter a hurricane. However, hurricanes typically do not form that close to the equator and even when they do, Milana is not the typical target. It still remains a vulnerable target, but thankfully only sees a hurricane every other decade.
