Original Ph'tani

History

The Confederation of Ph'tan was a country on the Ph'tani continent before the humans arrived. They lived in peace and harmony with one another; elves to the east, eathyns to the north, dhaidin to the south, and khargs to the west, and a garden salad in the middle of the country. They had a unique and rich culture, given all the races mixed here. The biggest thing, however, was that the confederacy as a whole was a matriarchy. Leaders typically were women, though men and other genders also took leadership roles. However, despite being heavy in matriarchy, men were treated with the utmost respect and honor. Intersex and trans folk (as we would describe them) were worshipped as divinities.

When the humans first arrived, they showed up in modern-day Walker, which used to be the Ph'tani city of Kwel'tanu. The people realized the humans had been displaced from their world, and offered help, willing to feed and clothe them, and teach them in their ways and how to cook the foods available. Unfortunately, a lot of these humans originated from colonialistic countries on Earth, and believed in colonialism and human history was once again repeated.

Human diseases spread through out Ph'tan and wiped out 1/3 of the original population. COVID, the flu, measles, and other diseases ravaged the Ph'tani continent. Thankfully, there was a way to contain the illnesses to the continent, and those who weren't infected were granted permission to flee to other countries until the illnesses subsided. It wasn't until the year 170, about 70 years after the initial arrival of the humans that some of those illnesses were eradicated with magical vaccines. Unfortunately, for the indigineous peoples, the damage had already been done.

During this time, humans waged a war against them and were able to wrench control away from the original Ph'tani and overthrow their government, as the Ph'tani did not have much of a military. They hadn't had a need for one, until it was far too late. Missing the ways of their world, they set up the "United States of Naa'ran" and renamed cities in the ways of the United States of America. Ryan Walker, D.C. being one of them. Many Ph'tani who remained in the country while the human diseases spread and were subsequently vaccinated against them fled their country or were otherwise placed in small villages outside of the main cities.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

The major language of this group was the Ph'tanali, closely followed by ancient Str'anan. There were numerous dialects given the large size of the confederation. The Naa'ran Dialect in the Ph'tani West Coast; the Hlevani Dialect in the southeast; and the Rha'ala Dialect in the northeast being the largest three.
