Goliaths

Standing taller than most sentient species, Goliaths are often referred to as giant-kin, with other peoples believing them to be related to the various races of giants. The few Goliaths who care to interact with other humanoid species scoff at this hypothesis, but offer no explanation as to their true origins. Goliath society is usually confined to the highlands and mountains of Endunia, cut off from mainstream society. While there are a scant few Goliath villages where clans and tribes congregate, most of the hulking Goliaths isolate themselves to solitary homesteads, sharing their space with only their mates and their offspring, with outsiders rarely being invited inside, if outsiders ever find them at all. Goliaths are seen as stoic and reclusive by most other species, but they are often as curious as any Human or Gnome, if not as outwardly enthusiastic. Contrary to popular belief, Goliaths often wage war against the Giant races, and are more likely to be found coexisting with Orc clans than Giants.
Their existence among the higher altitudes of the world have given them a resistance to cold and fatigue, making them capable adventurers. Their massive height and frames make them coveted mercenaries, bodyguards and gladiators, and Goliaths venturing out into the wider world have no trouble finding work as such. Goliaths’ religious beliefs are relatively obscure, but they are known to practice ancestor worship, with their shamans communing with the dead through various rites and ceremonies. Magic wielders are rare in Goliath communities, with most being priests or shamans, with wizards and mages being almost unheard of. Some Goliath bloodlines are known to produce powerful sorcerers, however, indicating some arcane interference in the distant past.

• Medium Size (Goliaths are on the upper tier of the Medium creature size, with most over 7 feet tall, all the way up to 8 feet and most weigh over 300 pounds)
• Goliaths typically age in the same manner as Humans. Due to their isolation, however, there is scant evidence as to what age they typically pass of natural causes.
• Walking Speed: 30ft
• Natural Athlete: You have proficiency in the Athletics skill.
• Stone's Endurance: You can focus yourself to occasionally shrug off injury. When you take damage, you can use your reaction to roll a d12. Add your Constitution modifier to the number rolled and reduce the damage by that total. After you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
• Powerful Build: You count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift.
• Mountain Born: You have resistance to cold damage. You’re also acclimated to high altitude, including elevations above 20,000 feet.
