Personal history

Akiyuki's life could’ve been peaceful if it wasn’t for this tragic day when his parents were killed by a group of mercenaries, likely sent by a family worried by the Ishida’s growing wealth.
Hunted by these same men for three days, Akiyuki and his sister  stumbled upon Sudou Mei who gave them food and shelter. Telling her their story, she decided to help them by claiming they were her children, two girls named Hinata and Saki.
To show their gratefulness, the siblings helped her run her tailor shop. The family then rescued a blond boy, seemingly from overseas.

Gender Identity

Although born a boy and identifying as such deep down, Hinata understands that for his survival he needs to pretend being a girl. Therefore, outside of the family circle, he is referred as a woman with the name Hinata. When he's with his sister or Mei, he is sometimes referred as a male.
The use of his birth name Akiyuki is usually reserved for his sister when the two are absolutely sure to be alone.
Ren is supposedly unaware of Hinata's true identity.

Speech

Hinata uses gender neutral terms as often as possible around most people. If required he'll use feminine terms, especially to convince a suspicious individual. When bickering with Mei or Saki, he'll sometimes slip up and use masculine terms.
