Succubus/Incubus

A form of demon that preys on the life and emotions of mortals, these beings feed on strife, discord, and chaos. They inflame the emotions of those around them and drain the energy produced from their victims.
Succubi and incubi are considered even more dangerous, in some regards, than their more directly powerful kin. Where a balor will assault and kill their victims, a succubus/incubus will hide among its victims and slowly drain their life away. Often, a group won't even know they are being preyed upon until someone dies. Even then, they are consummate liars and deceivers so identifying one is extremely difficult. It usually takes a dedicated investigation using magical detection to find and eliminate one.
Fortunately, only succubi and incubi that have existed since before the Silence keep the entirety of their power.  Most have been rooted out and destroyed at one point or another and reform with only a fraction of their power.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Their true form is that of a beautiful humanoid with bat-like wings but they have a supernatural physiology that allows them to change their appearance at will into any humanoid form.

Biological Traits

Succubi and incubi can take any physical characteristic they so desire, as long as they remain generally humanoid in form.
Those that still retain their pre-Silence power have a slew of spell-like abilities that they can use to influence their victims, even using magic to force their victims to act in accordance with their will.

Genetics and Reproduction

Succubi and incubi are formed when a mane absorbs all the negative emotion associated with lust and passion.  However, since they are formed to take advantage of lust, they can reproduce with any species.  This produces vile half-fiends that they gleefully turn lose against the mortal world.

Ecology and Habitats

Succubi and incubi are usually found either hiding within a large commercial area where they can feed without being discovered or serving a powerful figure as an advisor or consort.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Contrary to popular belief, succubi and incubi don't only feed on lust and passion.  They can, and do, inspire other strong emotions that they gain almost as much from, in regards to sustenance.  Any emotion that can overwhelm a person's reason, whether it be rage, fear, confusion, or even love, is enough to feed one of these creatures.

Succubi and incubi are incredibly individualistic and don't really socialize with each other all that often.  They usually keep to themselves so as not to impose on the hunting grounds of others of their kind.

Succubi and incubi are extremely intelligent and expert planners.  Finding one is almost as much a matter of outsmarting it as much as hunting.

Succubi and incubi form no relationships beyond that of hunter and prey.  They may become attached to a specific individual but only as one would become attached to a particular vintage of wine.

Succubi and incubi do not have their own dress code and, in fact, go without clothing in most regards when they are not hiding their presence.

Common Taboos

Succubi and incubi do whatever pleases them whenever it pleases them.  As such, they carry no taboos and will often indulge in the taboos of the cultures they infiltrate in order to entice their victims into doing the same.

Historical Figures

A powerful incubus named Argon, who has existed continuously since before the Silence, is the only real major figure they possess.  His exploits have become the stuff of legend among succubi and incubi.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Succubi and incubi will prey on other species without a second thought.  They have no qualms about assuming the forms of their victims, or even a form taboo to their victims, if they detect that such a form will help them in their hunt.
