Magistrate
Appointment
When the previous Magistrate dies or is voted out the people may come together to vote a new Magistrate in or if they cannot decide upon someone from withing the community they may assemble a council of elders until such time that the Queen may be able to appoint a new Magistrate.
Duties
Monitor Laws, Taxes, Safety, and local courts.
Benefits
Monthly stipend for food, clothing, and other necessity along with a weekly stipend of 20 gold. There is also a house and small Garden allotted to the family that also is the city hall.
Accoutrements & Equipment
Ebonwell: A special sword passed down through the years to each of the Magistrates of Ebonwell which is enchanted to glow when danger is near.
Avonfell: A special shield passed down through the years to each of the Magistrates of Avonfell which is enchanted to absorb damage and transfer it to the next person the shield hits.
Vesper's Bell: A special war axe passed down through the years to each of the Magistrates of Vesper's Bell which was enchanted by a cleric to help against the Undead and Fiends.
Mythshore: A special pair of boots passed down through the years to each of the Magistrates of Mythshore which were enchanted to aid in speed and stealth so the wearer may bring warning of incoming ships to those around them.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
Magistrates may be voted out by a council of the people based on no-confidence should enough complaints be sent to the Queen of the realm. Other wise the Magistrate remains until dismissed by the Queen or He/She dies.
