Once a minor town on the Western fringes of the Empire, Enetia has evolved into
the major shipping port of all of Albion. Enetia has quickly become the richest city in all of Albion due to its unchecked growth. It is here that
The Guild was first founded and where its main operations are handled from.
While it is the richest city in all of Albion, it is also the most unequal: The City is divided in two, between the lower Sunk and the upper Rise - where those who lord over the city reside. Only the Crucible - which extends between and connects both levels - brings the two societies together; to revel in the blood sport of gladiatoral combat. Enetia is ruled by the Dux, the elected-for-life leader of the city and its holdings.
The Guild
The story of Enetia and the Guild is closely intertwined. While the rapid growth of Enetia certainly helped the Guild, the Guild also had a hand in Enetia's growth. Officially the Guild is known as the Enetian Trading Company, at least in part. In truth, the Enetian Trading Company only makes up a small part of the Guild, which is more of a conglomerate of smaller organisations overseen by the Council of Nine and the Archon.
Besides the fact that they reside in Enetia, not much is known about the Archon, nor his Council of Nine. It is an open secret however, that both the guards and the Dux of Enetia are in the pocket of the Guild, and that Guild muscle is the true "force" in Enetia. If it weren't for its infighting, the Guild would probably own the city in its entirety.
Districts
Enetia is divided into three main districts, each of which has its own wards.
The Cothon
The military docks of Enetia are a true marvel of engineering and organisation. This inner harbour is circular and surrounded by an outer ring of structures divided into a series of docking bays for ship maintenance, along with an island structure at its centre that also houses navy ships. These military docks are carved into the very raised stone that Enetia was built upon. It is one of the reasons Enetia can maintain such a large navy, and it is the very lifeblood of the city.
The Rise
Situated atop Enetia, the Rise is a plateau of gardens, villas, and mansions where those who lord over Enetia's population reside. It is also the location of the Dux's Palace, which towers above the Enetian Bay and the rest of the city with its tall spires. It is extremely difficult to get access into the Rise, both officially and unofficially. Passes are needed to get past the guards and are difficult to forge, whereas the cliffs and walls of the Rise make it a breakneck task to steal oneself in.
Uptown
Located just underneath the Rise, Uptown Enetia is part of the more well-to-do society and features everything from public parks to open plazas, as well as finer shoppes and public houses. Those who have made their riches, either through legal or illegal means, usually find themselves living here eventually. The Old Wall divides Uptown from Downtown Enetia, but it is in dire states and no longer coherent.
Downtown
Downtown Enetia is the most well-travelled part of the city. Located at the lower part of Enetia where the land meets the water, Downtown is all hustle and bustle. It is flanked by the merchant and fishing docks near the coast, and as such it is the most active of all districts during all hours of the day.
The Sunk
A hive of scum and villainy, the Sunk is an interconnected labyrinth of sewer tunnels, older ruins from before the cataclysm, and abandoned caves and grottos. It is a prime recruiting ground for the Guild and all other of less-than-savoury nature, as all those who are down on their luck find themselves down here. Since it is so far removed from sunlight, some things less than human lurk down here too...
