Styrias
Grand Duchy of both Brethil & Ceneria
Styrias is the largest and most powerful Duchy in all of Albion. This size and stature has made it strong, but has also gained it many enemies. It is no secret that the Dukes of Styrias covet the crown of all of Albion, which is even reflected in their motto. In their way stand the still-imperial aligned province of Ceneria, the Free Cities of Pellas and Enetia, as well as the stubborn mindedness of the northern Brethil. As for itself, Styrias is unique in that it elects its Duke from among its counts, though often the previous Duke ensures that his son takes the throne, if possible.
Styrias is a rich kingdom, thanks to its fertile agricultural lands in particular. These large, open fields are also home to its prized horses; a Styrian Charger costs as much as a manor in most parts of Albion. What it lacks however, is any sort of naval power. Being located this close to Enetia has both its advantages and drawbacks, the drawbacks being that Enetia would never allow anyone to challenge it at sea. For its part, Styrias controls access to its bay through two forts with a gigantic chain strapped between them, ensuring the safety of Kronburg.
Military
Styria is well-known for its power on land, its heavy knights on horseback enjoying a fearsome reputation across the land. It is further ill-advised to meet Styrian heavy infantry in an open field, for they are heavily armoured and fight in impenetrable shield walls. Where the Styrian military lacks is its firepower, for its shortbow archers are no match for Mirenian longbowmen, nor Aranessan crossbowmen.
