An inquisitor of the
Church of Illumination fears no magic nor heresy, but an occultist does make them think twice. There are few recorded instances of any occultists, and the inquisition would like to keep it so, for it would spread unnecessary panic among the common folk to deal with such extreme heresies. In truth, not even the scholars of Kronburg fully understand the occult, beyond the fact that through some nefarious pact a heretic is able to wield magic unlike that of the divine or arcane.
Forbidden Lore
Only one occultist was ever successfully captured by the inquisition, and his endless babbling brought about little to clarify anything. Of note were his journal and a tome wrapped in (presumably) human skin in which were written wrinkled incantations and intrinsically wicked words. Only some were deciphered through the journal, which was subsequently burned. The tome resisted all attempts at destruction, and is now kept safe in the inner catacombs of the Church.
Of Aberrations and Abominations
Eldritch abominations are grouped into the category of "Aberrations", which is where beings such as the Chosen fall under. Most creatures live their entire lives without seeing any aberrations in the first place, and no official sighting has happened in decades. In fact, they are so rare, most of the Church is convinced it is heretical to keep knowledge of it written down in their vaults at all. Inquisitors who have studied history know better, and are preparing even now to fight the true heresy of Occultism.
Forbidden knowledge can only be found in the most unholy of tomes...
