Westreach
Geography
Westreach lies on the western edge of the continent. It is defined by low lying plains of fertile soil. It is bordered by the Highlands and the Atmos Mountains to the east and the Temporal Ocean to the west. Other features of note include Johanneswood Lake and Lake Patience. The great Tolen River and the Gray River flow from the heights of the Highlands across the plains of Westreach and into the Temporal Ocean.
Westreach covers an area of around 1.7 million square miles. Though many plains lie in the central part of the region many places are full of valleys and rolling hills.
Climate
Northern Westreach
The Northern region of Westreach lies on the northern quarter of the region. Only Alteria has any territory in this region. A temperate climate this part of Westreach contains lush coniferous forests, open grassy meadows, and deep valleys following rolling hills.Central Westreach
The central part of the region is marked by a more subtropical climate. Mild winters and hot humid summers are common in this part of Westreach. The land is much more lush and green as the humid air allows for plants to thrive. Dense forests and jungles are more common in these parts than forests of pines.Southern Westreach
The southern region of Westreach is tropical with vast amounts of rainfall. Dense rain forests and jungles would normally be found in these parts save for the fact that the races have cultivated the fertile land. These can still be found but for the most part the plains have partitioned into fields for food.Fauna & Flora
Much of the region has been developed by farmland which has pushed much of the natural wildlife away. Deer, rabbits and other small game still abound everywhere in Westreach. Large animals like cattle are used by the various farmers for food. Moose can be found along the northern stretches of Westreach and horses, both wild and domestic can be found all over. Predators such as wolves live in most of the northern forests and bears can be found throughout the region. Mountain lions can be found along the mountainous eastern edge of the region. In the central and southern parts of the region Tigers are a constant concern for those living there. Monkeys and elephants are more common in the southern parts as well. Crocodiles and snakes of different kinds can be found lurking in the many rivers and one should be aware of aggressive hippos in the south.
Natural Resources
Along with fertile valleys and plains Westreach is known for its forests. All along the region one can find huge swaths of forests with a variety of trees.
