Eorldom of Gar is based on the Kyngdom of Urtind in the Dragon Reaches of Marakush, the Fantasy Role Playing game published by Brittannia Game Designs Ltd. Although not necessary for play a GM may find the supplements “Dragon Reaches of Marakush” and “Eorldom of Gar an Urtind Kingdom Supplement” useful. This setting was created based on the Chivalry and Sorcery 5th Edition rules in mind however this presentation has tried to be agnostic yet it does contain some elements of d100 and Critical Dice d10. The setting takes inspiration from the lands of Wales and Scotland and from the historical technology period of 10th to 11 th century Scotland. It assumes that Chainmail armour would be the best available and with Ringmail being fairly common. Swords would be the best type of arms with Spears being quite common. The Kyngdom of Urtind had its roots in tribes and tribal beliefs in animal totems, in parallel to this was a pantheon or family of gods. Over time this was focused to a Monolatrism or Henotheism; a belief in the existence of many gods, but with the consistent worship of only one deity. This emerged shortly after the formation of the Empire of Urtind. Over the 600+ years since it formation other nations in the Dragon Reaches adopted this same religion of others very closely aligned to it. In recent history, the land has seen a terrible plague that was overcome barely 20 years ago which devastated the population. Many villages and some towns have abandoned buildings. Urtind has lost almost half of its population and in most areas only 1/3 of that loss has been recovered. Urtind is the second largest nation in the Dragon Reaches, being roughly 1,000 miles square. The largest nation is Eastern Taraj which is beyond Anderia and the Maranth Sea. The land has been quiet recently due to the steady leadership of Kyng Karonus. The Kyng is enjoying some peaceful times after suppressing the Canus Cult and the southern baronies revolts just 9 years ago. Most nations are on friendly if not cordial terms with Urtind. There is a tension between the Darken, a 'kingdom' ruled by a Dragon (Shogulath) to the east and northeast of Urtind. The Duchy of Mak lies directly east as does the nation of Vinlon. Vinlon was the origins of the most recent uprising by the Canus Cult, most believe that the Cult simply went to ground and will rise again very soon. Also to the east, along the southern shores of Lake Altau and the Altau Craggs mountains is the Northdown Republic, which is comprised of Haeflins. The western border is the Carlegg mountains, and the Asanthi (a loose grouping of various human and goblin tribes) in the north west. The various baronies lie to the south west. To the south are the Ruby Mountains which are rumoured to contain the various Dwarven cities. In addition the Nation of Solda which lies to the south south east. Completely within the Urtind kyngdom is the nation of Tatharyn. Tatharyn is a city state of Tylwyth Teg who escaped the Tylwyth cival war and took refuge in the Willow Woods.
