Technology
Technology in the most civilized parts of Eos is analogous to that of the 14th or 15th century on Earth, though some more advanced mechanical and architectural technology (though no arcane technology) was retained by the descendants of the servant races of the Imperium.
Agriculture Ploughs, the use of livestock and docile saurians to till fields, crop rotation, fermentation, wine presses, and somewhat advanced irrigation methods are in use in most civilized parts of Eos
Architecture and Construction Pendentive architecture, artesian wells, heated underfloor channels, chimneys, arch bridges, floating cranes, aqueducts, and underground sewer systems are in use in most of the more urban areas in Eos
Art Oil Paints, though relatively rare, are in use in most civilized parts of Eos, and are used on canvas and to paint mosaics on rock or wooden surfaces.
Education Most middle-to-upper class children in civilized areas receive a formal education through the age of 10-14, at which point they typically enter a trade as an apprentice, unless they come from a wealthy family. Secondary education and universities are rare and found mostly in wealthy districts of populated urban centers. Literacy rates vary widely from region to region, but are typically between 40-70% in urban centers.
Metallurgy Cast iron is the primary metal created and used by blacksmiths in weaponry and construction materials, though some geographies have retained a working knowledge of more complex metal-crafting, like steel. It is said that the dwarven holds of Borea possess advanced metallurgic knowledge, passed down from survivors of the Maenan collapse.
Milling Wind mills, Water mills, and paper mills are relatively common throughout civilized Eos.
Navigation Magnetic compasses are a relatively recent discovery, and are extremely rare and incredibly expensive.
Printing, Paper, and Reading Paper production and book binding are relatively widespread practices, but book reproduction is done manually by scribes, and thus books are incredibly expensive and well-protected. Many books were lost in the collapse of the Imperium. Glass spectacles are rare and expensive, and only aid the far-sighted in reading.
Textiles and Garments Looms and spinners are in common use in settled areas, and the use of cotton, leather, and silk is common. Most non-wealthy individuals wear garments of cotton or animal hide.
Timekeeping Hourglasses and Sundials are the primary means of timekeeping in most parts of Eos, though mechanical clocks of dwarven make have begun to spread throughout civilized areas to the extent that most major urban centers have a clock tower that tolls bells to announce the time. It is rumored in some regions that non-magical miniature clocks/pocket watches of Maenan make may have survived the collapse of the Imperium, but few claim to have ever seen one themselves.
Military Technologies Common armor types include padded, leather, chain, and plate. With some few exceptions surviving from before the collapse, most armor is non-magical and of a standard quality. The process for creating magical arms has been lost. Similarly, weapons created now are typically made of iron, though some particularly skilled smiths are able to create steel weapons.
Quicksilver The recent discovery of quicksilver, a particularly volatile liquid substance, is quickly revolutionizing and accelerating the development of new military technologies, and rumors of kingdoms experimenting in secret on new war machines and weapons are spreading across the land.
Forgotten Technologies Rumors of Maenan technologies lost in the Spellplague abound: airships, automatons, magical energy weapons, body augmentations, and more.
