Royal Equestrian Guard

The Royal Equestrian Guard (REG), colloquially known as the Royal Guard or as simply the Guard, refers to the standing military forces of Equestria. As the modern iteration of the historical EUP (Earth/Unicorn/Pegasus) Guard, the Royal Guard is a professional organization of well-trained and well-equipped volunteers.   The primary missions of the Royal Equestrian Guard are:
  • To secure the borders of Equestria from foreign invasion and monster incursion
  • To project Equestrian power abroad in pursuit of its foreign policy
  • To respond to crises and emergencies within Equestrian territory that local authorities cannot manage by themselves
The REG does not perform civilian law enforcement duties, though it does assist civilian authorities when needed in order to preserve the Princesses' Peace and to protect life and property.
