Kir Kerym
Kir Kerym makes it home on the Island of Knives, and all denizens of the Island, fall under it's rule.
Anyone outside of its borders considers it to be an honor, and life of luxury to live among it's elven people, especially in the capital. In truth, though many who live there do so from their estates, they drink wine, and throw parties. Just over half of the population are actually doing the hard work. The High Elves sit atop the Wood Elves, who act as both servants and the general workers. The Wood Elves are compensated, and allowed to have their own lives, but they would never be allowed to have the power that the High Elves do. They have lived under this system for centuries, and both are happy with how it works.
Structure
A council of elves have control of the government. The council is made up of 25 Elves, and they control everything about the Island. This includes the trade of the magical reagents that can only be found there on the island.
History
Thought to be the origins of the Elves of Er Arda, the kingdom has a long standing reputation for being closed off to outsiders, and generally ward off anyone that isn't of Elvish blood. The kingdom is older than the first written words of Er Arda by nearly 20 millennia, and it saw the rise and fall of many kingdoms.
The first denizens came from the Feywilds, escaping persecution from a long forgotten dictator. They took root in the now capital city also named Eir Kerym. They left the portals open so that they could get goods from their original plane. Once the main city was founded they began to expand into other towns on their island. The population almost became too great for the island, so they started expeditions off to the continent. Most of which were successful, and they found fertile lands, and a new source of materials. This began the Elvish expansion into what is known as Er Arda, and eventually this started the Elvish empire.
Demography and Population
The vast majority of Eir Kerym is Elvish, and is somewhere near 99% of the population. All other denizens are allows through invitation only, and are generally either merchants, delegates, or have proven themselves experts in their fields of Magic.
