During the spring of 484 the nobility of Saittlebeaux were struck with bad luck. The duke died of a mysterious disease and left no heir. One of the counts died in a riding accident and one were murdered in his sleep, and the killer was never found. Many of the baron fell sick as well and a few died from the disease or other accidents. The whole of Saittlebeaux came to a standstill or at worse disorder when so many of the ruling class had died, many without a clear heir. When spring became summer a large horde of Balckblood poured down from the Aidne mountains. Orchs and goblins was the mainstay but ogres and a few giants war mentioned as well. The unorganised forces of Saitlebeaux couldnĀ“t offer any real resistance and soon the whole region were in the claws of the blackbloods. The roads heading south were filled with fugitives who constantly was harassed by wolfriding goblins. Those who remained were thoroughly abused, raped or put into slavecamps. Many were taken up into the mountains never to be seen or heard from again.
Some scholars claims the invading blackbloods were from the witchmaster, while other claims they were from the schorched earth tribe.
King Ragnvald seems to have been taken by surprise from the attack and slowly reacted to it. It took time for the army to gather and many of the nobles who had lost their lands and relatives to the blackblood complained forcefully against his slow approach. His friend Count Depardieu Hachel de Solaris defended the King and contribuded muchof his wealth to supply the gathering forces.
The delay seemed to work in the kings favour as the infighting and lack of discipline amongst the blackblood led to infighting amongst them. As the siege of Fil-tofia still lasted many of the tribes got bored and starting to disperse looking for more loot and fun fighting. As the Kings army headed north they met two tribes of goblins who they duly defeated. The fleeing goblins informed the remaining blackbloods that a large army were coming and they all fled back into the Aidne mountains early in the years 485.
Depardieu Hachel de Solaris lost his status as count, but the King granted him the Duchy of Saittlebeaux and one barony in each of the counties of Saittlebeaux.
