Markisian Palace

It is the last Palace built in Midaria, or should I say outside of Midaria, as it has been built out of the city walls along the northern road to the town of Sierachie. Although it’s been built against the city wall it is not properly defended and is in no way a defensive place.
It is the main residence of The Markis.

Purpose / Function

It is nowadays the main residence of The Markis.
The palace is what we can call a prestigious or ceremonial castle, its main purpose being stating the power and wealth of The Markis.

Valuables

the most valuable item kept within the Markisian palace is the Crown of the Markis. the rest of the imperial treasure is kept in The Palace of the Silver Towers, which is more of a defensive place.

Alterations

It’s been entirely rebuilt after the Sierians finally retook the city to the Ishians, to make it a true Sierian Palace. The greatest changes made were to put down the defensive walls around it and replace them by simple walls with not effective defensive systems. The goal was to prevent any opposition to the newly reinvested imperial power to dispose of a stronghold outside the city gates.

Architecture

The architecture of the palace is plain and sober as a true Sierian architecture, though it has not been originally built by the Sierians. Built with the stones of the fist defensive wall, it looks kind of austere from the outside: there're very little ornements on the facade and few reliefs. It can look very heavy to a foreigner.
Though the disposition of many windows, openings and atriums make it light and spacious from the inside.
It is composed of a very large building with many, many rooms around an inner yard and a pool, surounded by vast gardens.

Defenses

A simple wall surrounds the Palace with no defensive purpose. However its location along the northern city wall makes it easy to defend from inside the city. It is also close enough the the northern gate for an army to arrive quickly if any attack is attempted on the palace.

History

Built by the Ishians during their ruling over Midaria in 755MEE, or twenty years after their invasion of the north of the subcontinent; it’s been the center the power ever since. 
This Palace, called "Palace City" or "Palace Capital", was completely destroyed when the Sierians took back their capital in 1363.
In 1365 Urior VI Sundhaurior started the reconstruction of the palace, giving it the name and style it has today. This reconstruction lasted for twenty three years and so in 1388 the Markis made it his main residence.
