Arcane Engines

One of the great wonders created by a collaboration between the Authenian Arcane Committee and the Authenian Scientific Committee, the Arcane Engine is cutting edge technology used for both military and scientific goals.

Utility

The Arcane Engine can be used for many different purposes, though the most common is powering the turbines found in Authenian flagships and research vessels. This allows these ships to travel incredibly fast, no matter the weather. Another use for Arcane Engines is to create a continuous magical effect without the need for a spellcaster. Some Authenian facilities use these to create magical barriers or even to construct forges powerful enough to melt white adamant, an incredible rare subtype of adamant ore thats strength is only matched by its resistance to all attempts to forge it. It has been theorized that had an Arcane Engine be seriously damaged or destablized, the tiny portal to Tartarus within it may grow and cause demons to spill out.

Manufacturing

Each Arcane Engine requires both an engineer and an experienced arcane spellcaster in order to construct one. Each machine is made out of a large bronze dynamo encapsulatinga a tiny portal to Tartarus, making both technology and magic essential to making a functioning Arcane Engine.

The Director of the Authenian Arcane Committee, Archimedes Church discovered that the natural magic found within the very essence of the fabrics of Tartarus could be harnessed into a source of power, and so with the assistance of ASC engineers, they constructed a device capable of siphoning power from the realm of Tartarus.

Access & Availability

Archane Engines have not been made availible to the public to use, and are only found in well funded government locations within the Authenian Republic. The Venatorian Empire is not even certain how these devices work, let alone how to replicate one. They are most commonly found on Authenian flagships and scientific research vessels, though some military ouposts and even AAC facilities do have access to this technology.

Complexity

The Arcane Engine is a wonder made from both science and magic. The device creates a portal to Tartarus no bigger than the size of a coin, whilst complex machinery absorbs the static power escaping the portal and converts it into movement, causing the spherical dynamo encapsulating the portal to spin, generating power.
