Freelancer Armour

"The advancement of mortals has always been tied to their capacity for war. It is only when motivated by the threat of death that mortals reach their true potential." ~ Ares, God of War and Courage.
A mixture of technological greatness and arcane ingenuity, the armour worn by Freelancer Agents was designed to prevent the death of the wearer and ensure the death of their attackers. Both a source of protection and great offensive power.

Inner Workings

Freelancer armour is created out of steel and titanium, in order to ensure both strength and a relatively lightweight design. Each armour piece was made by a high ranking member of the Church of Hephaestus. The armour is attached to a leather underarmour in order to support the armour and give it a frame for the enhancements to be housed. Arcane runes and glyphs are placed on both the armour pieces and the underarmour, ensuring both protection and seamless synchronization between the armour and the AI fragment housed within the Freelancer Agent's skull. Arcane engines are grafted to the lower back of the armour, and encased in an adamant capsule in order to ensure that it does not get damaged. This arcane engine helps power the special equipment carried by each and every Freelancer Agent. These pieces of special equipment have to be built into the armour. These devices include Healing Units, Shield Generators and Strength Enhancement Units.

Personal Variation

No two Freelancer Agents had identical armour, both due to the fact that certain alterations would help Freelancers that were specialists, and because unique armour would help Freelancers identify each other.   Agent Maine wore a helmet that covered his entire head that was made out of reinforced volcanic glass, granting him additional protection without decreasing his field of view. This volcanic glass was one way, and had a golden shine on the outside. His armour was painted white and had many areas on it thickened in order to maximize protection, which he desperately needed due to being an assault specialist.   Agent Carolina wore teal armour with incredibly lightweight armour plating, which further increased her movement speed and agility. In order to compensate for the lighter armour, her underarmour had adamant studs added to improve the protective capabilities.   Agent Texas wore armour painted pitch black to assists her in stealth at all times. Her armour had many compartments made to hold throwing knives and daggers. A small, springloaded, concealed blade was attached to the left forearm of Agent Texas' armour, to ensure that she would never truly be unarmed. This blade was made out of blacklight metal.   Agent Washington wears grey armour with yellow highlights. Since the event known as the "Epsilon Incident", Agent Washington's armour was modified so that no AI fragment is required to activate his equipment so that he can do it manually. This alteration was made because ever since the "Epsilon Incident", Agent Washington has refused to have any AI fragment implanted into him. Agent Washington has also made his armour plating thinner, in order to ensure that he could move quickly and quietly.

Rarity

Only fifty sets of Freelancer Armour were made, and several of them are now destroyed. Every single suit costed a small fortune to be created, and it is rather expensive to repair due to the complexity of the armour. The suits of Georgia, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Idaho and Kansas have been destroyed after the deaths of their owners in order to ensure that their technology was not recovered by Agent Maine or anyone else Project Freelancer would not consider trustworthy. The suits of Agent Carolina and Agent Florida are yet to be found.

Social Impact

When an Authenian Soldier sees a Freelancer on the battlefield, they recognize them easily just by the look of their armour. While every Freelancer Agent has made modifications to their armour in order to fit their specialty and role, every suit of Freelancer Armour is equally complex, and it is plain for all to see how many hours and pieces of incredible technology have been used wisely to create such a suit of armour.   While Freelancers are considered a sight for sore eyes to a regular Authenian troop if they were on the battlefield, soldiers are often on edge when a freelancer is around as they assume that something dangerous and violent is about to occur. Freelancers, and their armour by extention, are seen both as saviours and bringers of bad luck.
Inventor(s)
The armour used by Freelancer Agents was designed by the Director if the AAC and Project Freelancer, Archimedes Church. The design was honed and improved by engineers from the ASC and has been left with no known structural weaknesses.
