Demons are literally Chaos and Evil (Capital C and E) incarnate. Any dealings with demons are naturally fraught with peril as many are nearly impossible to negotiate with or placate. Demons of greater power tend to be more intelligent (although as with all assumptions about being as varied as these incarnations of chaos, assume at your own peril) and may be able to be influenced but keep in mind that they can never be trusted or convinced to give mercy unless it is in their interest (and usually not even then).
