Created from infernal iron dug up from vast mines on Gula and processed in great furnaces of screaming hellfire, infernal steel is used mainly used to forge hellish weapons and armor.
Properties
Material Characteristics
A shiny, red-hued metal.
Physical & Chemical Properties
Infernal steel has the properties of profane, and axiomatic materials, appropriate considering its origins, properties which it retains when summoned into the material world.
Geology & Geography
Infernal iron is found only in the Gula, the first and uppermost ring of the Pit of the Seven Hells of the Seven Hells.
History & Usage
Everyday use
Infernal steel is most often used to forged into weapons and armor due to its special properties.
Refinement
Infernal iron must be worked in hellfire. However, the devil, Mephistopheles
knows of a means to create cold infernal steel, a material that carries all the properties of infernal steel plus cold iron.
Manufacturing & Products
Weapon are by far the most common use of infernal steel.
Byproducts & Sideproducts
The vast strip mining and industrial processing of infernal iron would cause major ecological damage were they located anywhere but the fields of Gula.
Hazards
Any prolonged exposure to, including processing, and manufacturing with infernal iron carries the risk
Dealing with infernal steel is not without it's dangers, the most obvious of which would be getting hands on it as it comes only from the the first circle of the Pit of Seven Hells. This would involve locating a source and getting it into the physical world.
Another danger to anyone that would attempt to process infernal iron must be able to summon and manipulate hellfire. Hellfire is extremely dangerous as it burns the soul and not the body, and as such, protections from heat and fire are useless.
Lastly is the corruption caused buy the handling of the iron, a common side effect of dealing with anything coming from the lower realms.
Environmental Impact
A great strip mine, The Regretful Gyre, is the largest source of infernal iron. The process of extracting this ore material causes massive devastation to the landscape. Many of the miners and those that work around the Gyre suffer from Iron Corruption
