Nida Government
The Nida have a socialist government.
The main divisions of the government are:
Everything is owned by the people. As such all income from business endeavors is remitted to the Public Fund (Bursary). Every person in Nidavir is paid a wage from the Public Fund. Wages are set by the difficulty and demand of the job being done for those within the working age bracket. Jobs are found for citizens at the Fulfillment Center (Bursary), where Counselors seek to find a fulfilling profession for the job seeker. Counselor jobs at the Fulfillment Center are a lower wage, but they are highly sought after as a Counselor can help their family/friends, and themselves, find the the best jobs; Counselor jobs only last for 5 years (although most people find a dream career for themselves before the time limit). Management jobs are low pay and reserved for older citizens who have life experience and are no longer able to preform labor intensive occupations.
As all of their income is turned over to the people, merchants/manufacturers receive all of their goods/ingredients/supplies from the Public Warehouse (Bursary) at no cost, as it all belongs to the people. The country's ledgers are tracked by the Public Accountants (Oversight Commission). The Commerce Agency receives reports from the Public Accountants and determines which industries need to be expanded and which businesses do or do not make sense for the community. A citizen with an idea for a new business would bring it to the Commerce Agency to put it into action. Like the Fulfillment Center, Civic (Public/Agency) jobs have a term limit of 5 years.
Public services (Wellness Bureau) are provided to the people at no cost. Raising children is a job; it can be done by anyone (i.e. a parent, a relative, a friend, anyone with guardian permission really).
The Night Markets fall under the authority of the Commerce Agency who oversee the contract for the Chief Market Officer. The Night Market is important to international commerce as they are the intermediary between Nidavir and the outside markets. Additionally, the Night Market has the duel role of being the Nida's emissaries to foreign lands.
There is very little crime in Nidavir, however, when it does happen, criminals are sentenced to work in the most undesirable jobs. The working incarcerated are paid a full wage which is put into their bank account for access once their time is served (minus the cost of food- which the incarcerated are allowed to choose and spend as much or little as they care to). This is overseen by the Wellness Bureau.
Overall policy is set by elected officials; this is a job even though it is not staffed by the FC. Terms are set at 3 years and can not be served more than three consecutive times.
Nida Currency System
The internal currency system of the Nida divides goods and services into three strata of want vs need. The underlying philosophy can be summed up as: everyone needs proper nutrition, but it isn't necessary, or even healthy, to eat rare delicacies for every meal. Regional specific production: blacksmithing, mage-smith weapons & tools, jewelry, cut gems, vodka, mushrooms, white asparagus, root vegetables, ultramarine (for pigment/painting), hematite (pigment)
