Yugoth

As a living man, Hertes sought to defy death in any way possible. As a result, he wound up at the mage's college in Dusk to study under the current Archmage, Lance Stennar, and became obsessive over the idea of death and how he felt trapped by it. He did not tell anyone of his ultimate goal, but some grew suspicious at his involvement with necromancy. Eventually, he found what he was looking for and decidedly killed himself. However, he began a ritual to revive him shortly after his death and so he was brought back from nothingness to become a new being. His skin decomposed and tore away. His bones exposed themselves to nature. He took on a new name: Yugoth. Yugoth quickly noticed in his newfound immortality, that he no longer had any goals, as defying the Raven Queen was a great feat in and of itself. Feeling more connected to nature than ever, Yugoth pledged himself to protect flora and fauna wherever he may be, and let them do as he did so long ago, without denying death completely.
