Grove of Winter's Incursion
"I would highly advise against intentionally attempting to enter the incursion, due to the high chance of... falling... into the Faeweald. However, knowing humans they will likely continue poking at it until something happens. Luckily, there are plans for when that happens.Within the southern reaches of the Broken Spine Wilderness lies a place where snow falls year-round. The exact location is hard to figure out due to the nature of the effect, which is something scholars had theorized was possible. This is a place where the borders between Erisdaire and the Faeweald are weak enough for travelers to slip through, and to allow the Faeweald to similarly intrude. On the other side is the Frostwood, a pine forest where winter never ends and there is only varying degrees of snowfall as the weather. Within this grove's boundaries, however, other trees which are usually dormant during winter remain active with leaves. Samples of wood taken from the trees have indicated they possess magic naturally from the influence of the Faeweald.
In the Empire's borders, these locations would be under the watch of House Holimion. However, the Ashen Horde's efforts in the distant past led to most elven nobles giving the area a wide berth. It is only more with the (relatively) recent founding of Starfall Village there have been more elves present in the region. Even so, they are discovering places such as this at roughly the same rate as humans. Those who are aware of what dangers are present in such a place as this grove have had their warnings fall on deaf ears. The Allied Adventurers Guild has posted a warning in nearby Elada Hill, telling travelers to avoid any areas of "unseasonal weather".
Other Instances
The nature of such "incursions" of the Faeweald into Erisdaire means there are opportunities for other such places to exist across Erisdaire. As it is, there are rumored to be other instances of this same effect within Myrisian wilderness and the Sebilian Jungle. The Sages have permitted House Holimion to place Pallas Holimion in a position to monitor the area, though the instance has not been found yet. The nature of Sebile makes it difficult to truly find anything even with people who have proof of finding the grove before. No instances are known within the borders of the Empire, though other incursions from the Faeweald and Shadowfell are known to occur there.
