- Unstressed /o/ > /u/
- Metathesis: CRV > RCV (where C represents any consonant, R any liquid consonant, and V any vowel)
- Introduction of pitch accent: Stressed syllables gain high tone, others remain low
- /ae/ > /e:/
- /ei/ > /i:/
- /eu/ > /y:/
- /ɣ/ > /g/
- /dʒ/ > /ʒ/
- /tʃ/ > /ʃ/
- Word-initial /h/ is dropped
- /ʔ/ > /h/ between vowels
- Devoicing of final voiced stops
- /pn/, /tn/, /kn/ > /f/, /θ/, /x/
- Nasals /m/ and /n/ merge before /p/, /b/, /f/ and /v/ to /m/
- /ij/ > /y:/
- /ɾ/ > /r/ before consonants
- Long vowels shorten before clusters
