Sentinel's Vigil
Sentinel's Vigil is the name a great watchpost built at the top of Sentinel Peak in the early Second Era.
Features
Much of the Vigil was carved out of side of the mountain itself, with additions being built from stone. It was built to keep watch over the Blightlands to the east, though in modern times it is primarily used as a general watchpost for the eastern Headlands region. Originally, the watchpost watchpost was manned exclusively by the Grey Guard, though today is typically manned by standard forces of the Army of the Reach. The stonework of the Vigil blends intricate, almost ceremonial carvings with practical military fortification, giving the Vigil a sense of martial elegance that remains even to the modern day. It is rumored that the stone itself is enchanted to never wear over time or break down under attack, though such rumors have never been confirmed by the army or by Emberstone. The most notable feature of the watchpost is the Raven's Seat, an enchanted stone chair that sits upon a carved platform near the edge of the watchpost. The chair itself was carved from the mountain, and thus maintains a physical connection to the Peak. Upon the chair is an enchantment that allows a magically trained user, who has been attuned to the chair, to see great distances while sitting upon it. The original Grey Guard, as well as the present members, who stood watch at the Vigil could use the chair freely, as they all have magical training. The regular army that mans the watchpost in modern times keeps two mages posted to the Vigil at all times in order to use the Seat.
