Light star

The light star is the symbol of the belief in light. Most believers wear the symbol in one way or another. Some wear the star engraved in a ring, others as a pendant on a chain.

Appearance

The star of light is an eight-pointed star in a circle. Sometimes there is another small circle in the middle of the star and there are no decorations. Both stars have the same meaning and may be worn by all believers. Originally, the star with a ring was worn on the mainland and the star without a ring in Iloa. When the belief in light was banned on the mainland, some believers fled to Iloa, which is why the star of light with two rings is used more frequently there.

Material

The light star is made from a wide variety of materials. There are stars made of various metals, wood and even stone. The choice of material depends solely on the preferences of the worshipper. Only the pendants of the Priests of Light are made of gold. They chose gold not because of its value, but because of its color, as gold most closely resembles light.
The novices of light, on the other hand, all wear pendants made of wood. Only when they are elevated to the priesthood and have proven that they take the faith of the Light seriously do they receive the golden star.

History and meaning

The light star originated from the original star. This had 16 points and four points always stood for a god. The 8 points of the Star of Light stand for the two primordial gods Daeron and Ajona. In the belief of light, only the goddess of light is worshipped, but there are also rituals in which the god of darkness plays a role, as the universe was created through the first union of the two gods.
Both the worshippers of light and the Daerans believe that light cannot exist without darkness and darkness cannot exist without light. The combination of four spikes stands for the four gods and even if the belief in one of the gods was forbidden, no one wanted to change anything about the symbol, as only the belief, but not the god, disappeared with the ban.

Manufacturing process

The star is made by local artisans. The wooden and stone stars are carved into a round surface, while the forged stars consist of a single star in a circle. After being made, the stars of light are placed in a temple where they are blessed by a priest. Only then are they blessed. Most sellers donate part of their proceeds to the temple.
