Lavissa
Lavissa is a goddess associated with greed, trade, slavery and envy.
A former angel of Iphazia, Lavissa left her mistress' service when she grew envious of Iphazia's power and popularity. Convinced of her own suitability as a divine queen to rule the mortal realms, Lavissa jealously accumulates followers with promises of power, fame, and above all, money.
No other god is so devoted to the gathering of wealth as Lavissa - so despite her sinister connotations, she is often worshipped by mortals craving cash. Merchants, thieves, gamblers, slavers, money-lenders and con-artists offer the goddess frequent prayers. She is also the patron goddess of drow and duergar.
She is sometimes referred to as 'The Golden Succubus' or 'The Empress of Avarice'.
Divine Domains
Lavissa's primary domains are Artifice, Evil, Law and Travel. Her subdomains are Inevitable, Light, Toil and Trade.
Holy Books & Codes
Lavissa's holy book is called The Decadent Verses. It is a collection of 27 vows her followers are expected to make and uphold in order to portray the values of wealth and status that Lavissa deems worthy.
Notable among them are Verse 7, demanding the keeping of slaves; and Verse 11, which commands the burning of offspring with birth defects.
Divine Symbols & Sigils
Lavissa is typically depicted as a beautiful, fallen angelic queen, adorned with riches. She is often represented by a bloody golden crown studded with rubies.
Lavissa's sacred animal is the spider, however she is commonly associated with the pig by non-worshippers on account of her association with greed and indulgence.
Her favoured weapon is the spiked chain, symbolic of her connections with slavery.
Lavissa's mystic card is The Empress, and her holy number is three.
Tenets of Faith
Lavissa believes that status is everything. The poor and the ugly are useful as slaves, but never, under any circumstances, to be treated as equals. Notions of equality and justice applying to all are alien to followers of Lavissa - you deserve what your status dictates, nothing more and nothing less.
Holidays
The tenth month of the year, Lavister, is named after Lavissa. It is called the 'Month of Merchants' and celebrates commerce.
Divine Goals & Aspirations
Lavissa craves recognition, not only from her followers but from other gods as well - and where recognition is impossible, dominance will do instead. Her greatest desire is to see Iphazia humbled.
