In the beginning, Obuu the dragon god and Galanus the construct god served as creator deities, responsible for the magical and physical worlds respectively. Meanwhile, in the Void, the primordial deity Daksha wants to consume the universe and destroy everything. With the creation of Esharra came Elade, the beautiful goddess of life, love and healing; but also Nergal, the fearsome god of death and the undead. Iphazia is the goddess of the sun, as well as wisdom and the home, while Shaspia is goddess of the moon, rivers and seas. Elves like Iphazia and halflings like Shaspia. Gnomes like Peevle, guardian of the wild and inventor extraordinaire; while warlike orcs favour Dulicta, goddess of rage and battle. Humans, especially Galdrans, and dwarves most often worship Tane, a patriarchal god of goodness, law and justice. Tane's counterpart, the evil and tyrannical Nemeon, is preferred by the devil-worshippers of Mazkras. Nemeon is often associated with his chaotic familiar, Schtemich; and his mistress, the goddess of greed, Lavissa. The feud between Tane and Nemeon drove other gods towards neutrality, such as Tane's former friend Hadin, who became a god of mercenaries and deserters; and Nemeon's former apprentice Yoradine, who became a goddess of witchcraft and medicine. Many gods were once mortals who ascended. Raskinot was the first paladin and founded an empire, while Aetea was a wronged sorceress who uses her divine powers to defend children in danger. Ulexi was a nomadic hero, now associated with hospitality and acceptance. Meanwhile Hygalix was the first vampire. Other gods have stranger origins still. Rymon is a mage from the future communicating with followers in the past, and Skelty is a personification of vanity created by Iphazia to demonstrate her distaste. Swadeen became a god of rogues and gamers when he defeated Elade in a bet. Other gods exist beyond these 22, however only those mentioned above feature in the Mystic Deck.
