Obuu
Obuu is a god associated with time, dreams and dragons.
An unfathomably ancient deity and one of the principal creators of Esharra, Obuu is a powerful though elusive god. Greatest of the elder dragons, he lead them on their flight from The Void and masterminded the formation of the known universe.
A favourite of sorcerers and oracles, Obuu's focus on the greatest mysteries of time and space have captivated many followers across the millenia. His temples can be found all over the world, though no nation reveres him as a patron deity.
Obuu is sometimes referred to as 'The Chronomancer' or 'The Scaled Scribe'.
Divine Domains
Obuu's primary domains are Knowledge, Liberation, Rune and Travel. His subdomains are Exploration, Language, Memory and Revolution.
Holy Books & Codes
A poem called the Tixiad serves as holy book for Obuu's followers. It is a compendium of over 10,000 seemingly unrelated, largely incomprehensible verses that supposedly identify every event in existence that is 'unforeseeable'. Obuu's followers posit that this apparent contradiction is only a problem when we - erroneously - think in terms of linear time.
Divine Symbols & Sigils
Obuu is most often depicted as elder dragon with multicoloured metallic scales. His strong association with time means that clocks, sundials and hourglasses are common throughout his iconography.
All reptiles are sacred to Obuu. His followers often keep lizards as pets, or weild snake-like quarterstaves - his favoured weapon.
Obuu's mystic card is The Hierophant, and his holy number is five.
Tenets of Faith
Existence is a dream, dreamt by those, that, in turn, exist in the dreams of others still. The laws of time and space are constantly bent and changed around us by the dreamers, but our perceptions alter with these shifts, so we rarely, if ever, perceive anything.
Obuu's followers attest that true wisdom lies in abandoning presumptions. Time is not linear, cause does not necessarily predate effect, and our motives are rarely what they seem.
Holidays
The third month, Obester - the Month of Scribes - is named in Obuu's honour. It is a time of learning, freethinking, and challenging existing wisdom.
Divine Goals & Aspirations
In most creation stories, Obuu and the other elder dragons created primordial Esharra as a refuge from Daksha, who had destroyed their homeworld.
As such Obuu's focus is freedom. Life needs space and time to flourish and reach its potential. Obuu rarely intervenes in the affairs of mortals because to do so inhibits their freedom.
