House Thurum

House Thurum is the noble family that have ruled over the Halls of Kaz Thurum for the entirety of its existence. Eight different kings and or Queens have taken the throne over the near 1000 year legacy of this kingdom, all of whom have led the kingdom through golden ages and dark times.    House Thurum was one of the few noble dwarfen families to survive the great convergence, gathering their people of many decades so that they could start anew in the Thurum Range. A house of great renown and legacy, house Thurum is a name you will hear across the continent when people discuss the strongest families of the ages.

Structure

The house is led by the current king, rather than the eldest member of the family. They will usually grant them work on the Miner's Council, or push for them to find work with the people to gain their respect.

Culture

Whilst still a royal family, they are fairly down to earth, living in a mansion rather than a palace and not receiving money directly from the king. Many chose to work among the people in regular roles, whilst other who have made have gained the respect of those around them work in more senior positions. Respect is equal between the family and the people around them, for they know that it is the support of the people that keeps them in power.

Public Agenda

The family seeks to maintain their station, whilst increasing their ties with other nations through trade deals from the companies they own within the kingdom.

History

The House of Thurum were the rulers of a petty kingdom during the first age, a small nation which lived under the thumb of the other great dwarfish kingdoms. After the great convergence the family led survivors to a new land to begin again, where they quickly became respected for their leadership.   Over the second age they have continued, beginning with some slight controversy during the difficult times of the early second age and internal struggles, but have finally found their footing as a well respected noble family on the continent.
