The Nightmare
The Nightmare is the Dimensional Plane which parallels The Dream. Located on the edge of The Hells, the Nightmare is ruled over by Orias the Prince of Nightmares and brother of Turiel. When mortals sleep and begin to dream, they will sometimes find themselves here to be tortured by the visions that the Prince and his minions create. This is how Nightmares were born.
Geography
A desert of black sand which extends into the eternal night is the most common feature you will see here in the Nightmare. At the centre of it all lies a rocky outcrop, atop which the home of the prince was built.
Ecosystem
The plane lies almost completely desolate and dead. Very few animals or plants exist, and those that do are usually very hostile. The only exception to this would be the Prince's minions, the nightmare weavers, who fly across the desert to find wandering sleeping souls to craft nightmares for.
Localized Phenomena
When a sleeping soul is found by the Nightmare weavers, they write a nightmare into their mind. This creates a storm of sand around them which then moves across the dunes. Getting caught in this ferocious storm puts one into the nightmare of that sleeping soul, letting them explore and experience the fear that person is experiencing. However, when someone is caught in one of these storms they are at true risk of harm as they are experiencing the nightmare for real.
Natural Resources
The black sand of the nightmare is an exceptionally powerful and magical resource to those in the Material plane. It acts as a sleeping powder on anything that is capable of sleep, and can also be used in crafting of potions and spells.
History
The Nightmare was created as a home for the Prince, who acts as the opposite to his Twin brother who created the Dream. The two have always had a terrible rivalry and so this place was created out of spite if anything.
After the closure of the divine gates, getting to the Nightmare has been almost impossible for anyone who isn't a god or isn't sleeping.
