Niðavellir

Nidavellir is one of the Nine Realms of Yggdrassil. It consists of a series of underground tunnels and vast warm caverns. It contains numerous divine realms and is the location of two major warring realms: Sindri (Hall of the Dwarven gods) and Svartalfheim, which is believed to be the divine realm of corrupted Elven gods.

Found within Arborea where pockets of Elemental Earth and Fire bleed through, the landmasses of Nidavellir also consist of moving earthbergs. However, whereas in the other two layers the earthbergs rarely collide, in Nidavellir they are constantly grinding against each other, so the only habitable spaces are located in the cavities formed between them. The entirety of the layer is underground. Its tunnels, chambers, and caverns are kept warm by hot springs and geysers, which provide ample heat to sustain the native vegetation, which consist of woods that require no sunlight to grow.

Most of the layer is inhabited by dwarves and gnomes who, despite their natural animosity towards each other, work together in their forges and crafts. The drow inhabitants of Svartalfheim are not prone to evil like their counterparts from the Prime Material plane and wished only to be left alone.
