Sparrowrest

Geography: Sparrowrest grew to be the major power in Cardus because of a few factors. Sparrowrest began as a small town in the outskirts, ignored and left alone. The two bigger towns Cadus and Wrenwall grew slowly and dealt with thieved and lawbreakers by exiling as was the law. Unknown to them Sparrowrest became the town they went to and they formed a common bond, disdain for the old law and desire to be free from it. This led to Sparrowrest, the town with nothing of particular interest to become a major power and great city.

Resources: The only things of particular note that the city produces are nuts and olives. However, what they lack in physical resources they make up for in the selling of information and reselling of illegal goods. 

Culture: The city is known for its loose laws, suggestive dancing, brothels, black market, and sense of community and unity. 

Government: The few laws and order are enforced by a very secretive and powerful assassins guild that solves problems before there are any usually.

Major Historical Events: The city saw a rising economic boom the larger it grew and the more word of it spread. The increasing economic strength is still on the rise to this day.

Major Threat: Due to the location of the city near the marshes there is always a threat of floods and other natural issues that arise from the location. Among these is the fear of a local dragon that has moved in and has been seen flying in the sky close enough to make people worry.

Defenses: The city is protected from the guild that organizes the enforcement of law and order as they see fit.

Law: The laws are few and even the more serious oversteps can be paid off with enough coin or sometimes other things traded such as favors or service of a task.

Powerful Players: There are multiple crime gangs that hold much power in the city, along with a charismatic cult leader, and the black market dealers.

Population Breakdown: Human 35%, Halfling 30%, Dwarf 15%, Tiefling 10%, Misc 10%
