Vellardin
Geography: The secluded city of Vellardin exists to the North, in the forest of Tal-Onarafel. The forest in unique in that its trees are vast and large enough where multiple comfortable living spaces could be carved into them. This is where the half elf half dwarf city calls home. Due to the corrupt forest of Dreshmore in the Northeast that seems to be eating up Tal-Onarafel and The Burnt Hills to the southeast the city is pinned in-between two threats.
Resources: The city has two major resources it is famed for; spider silks made from giant tamed spiders and enchanted crafted items. The crafting is possible because of the existence of the "Everforge" a large blue orb that can be used to magically smelt ore or shape base materials that have been placed inside. Craftsman and enchanters then use heavily guarded magic techniques to control the orb and shape what is inside and imbue it with magical powers.
Culture: The city is known for everything that makes it unique. Half-Dwarf Half-Elves live in abundance, the incredible crafted items, the wonderful silks, the wonder of design of the city in the trees with rope-bridge streets and houses carved into and hanging off the giant trees.
Government: The city is run by a council made up of wealthy and powerful nobles. The nobles all have different focuses from food production, defenses, law enforcement, crafting, and research into fixing their isolation issue.
Major Historical Events: The city blew up and experienced great economic growth until The Burnt Hills seemed to explode onto the world overnight, consuming the long-forgotten town that was once there along with it. Once this happened the city found themselves mostly isolated from the rest of the world. The mountains of Uil'Vol are a dangerous trek, the ocean is vast and to reach Vellardin one must travel all around the world, and the Burnt Hills to the south make travel from the south extremely dangerous as well.
Major Threat: The only real transport is via magical teleportation which is a skill not many in the world posses. Due to this, the talented and powerful in Vellardin have shifted their focus to trying to solve the problems. Some focus on trying to cleanse and absolve the Burnt Hills of whatever corruption holds it here, some are focusing on trying to stave off and possibly stop the corruption eating the forest from Dreshmore. Finally some try to create passage under or over the mountains, focusing on The Dark Gate, a mostly uncharted passage into the underdark which could lead to the Stone Gate across the mountains.
Defenses: The city guard rides giant spiders, patrolling and hiding in trees and dark spaces, using an intricate series of webs throughout the forests which can both indicate where threats are or be used to magically send information across great distances.
Law: The laws of the land are very simple and focus mostly preservation of the safety of the city and its wellbeing.
Powerful Players: There is a philosopher that has gained some following due to his ideas of the cause of the corruption and how it may be linked to the city. There is also many bolded heroes that have been serving the guard to protect the city from dangers.
