Ziris
Geography: The fabled granite city of Ziris lies on the southern coast of the Zir dessert.
Resources: The granite mines are what made Ziris so wealthy and also so gorgeous. The coral reefs along the coast near the city lead to natural defenses against attacks from the sea while also providing a wonderful source of pearls.
Culture: The city is know for its clean and perfected architecture, hand carved granite makes up a majority of the city. Statues carved from granite, coral, and even precious metals to show the cities great wealth.
Government: The city is ruled by a council of elected officials compromised of 15 members, each representing different aspects of society. There are representatives ranging from granite miners all the way up to wealthy nobility and merchants.
Major Historical Events: The city once defended against a 2 year siege, using the naturally protected coast to the south to provide enough food for the citizens to make it through the very lengthy attack.
Major Threat: The people of Ziris fear new magics, preferring to use more traditional draconic magics and stay away from newer clerical magics and binding contracts with otherworldly patrons.
Defenses: The city is protected by the shallow waters and thick coral reefs that make approaching by ship very dangerous without perfect navigation. To the north the city has tall thick granite walls that deter people from attacking.
Law: The laws are clearly laid out to visitors to the great dragonborn city.
Powerful Players: The city has many ancient magi that are said to be as strong as 100 foreign arcane practitioners. There are also rumors that there is a permanent 16th member of the council, an ancient metallic dragon.
