Tau Ceti

The Tau Ceti system is binary with one large sun and a secondary sun named Tau Ceti A. The system contains a heavy concentration of asteroids and two terrestrial planets named Beta and Gamma.   Every year the Asteroids impact as massive extinction-level events in what is termed the Season of the Sky, causing massive dust plumes to rise into the sky, blotting out the suns and lowering the temperature drastically. This time is catastrophic for anyone left in the open as dust storms, tectonic movement, and subzero temperatures kill anyone caught out in the open.
Ceteans survive this season in fortified and energy-shielded Burghs in the polar regions. This time is spent polishing their wares and repairing their equipment.   Once the Season of the Sky ends the Season of Water begins.
Torrential rains begin planet-wide, and after the massive tectonic changes in the great desert the rain washes the sand from the newly revealed crop of the earth. All major trading is conducted during this period, and all off-worlders are required to stay within the bounds of the Burghs, on penalty of death.
Millennia or more ago the planets were the scrapyard for whichever species ruled this space, and they left behind them beautiful treasures of the past. Gargantuan ships shielded with energy provide the force-fields of each Burgh. The skin of vessels is stripped and the precious metals formed into trinkets and talismans for the superstitious tourists or otherwise sold to ship-makers.
As the Season of Water comes to an end the Season of Metal begins with scavengers scrambling to claim each wreck and its myriad treasures within. Competition is fierce and it is expected to ignite several clan wars before the season is over.   The final season in the Cetean year is the Season of Fire. As the temperatures rise prominently in the lead-up to the Season of the Sky the desert once again becomes a harsh mistress. The Ceteans take their prizes back to their Burghs, preparing for another winter, and readying for the spring trading.   The people of Tau Ceti are varied as the Burghs they live in. Some bury themselves deep below the earth in solid shielded bunkers deep in the mountainsides, painting their skin with the damp blue clay of their home. Others perch atop lonely peaks in towering settlements armoured in starship skin, their children riding the turbulent winds on wings of cloth. Yet more live amid ancient starships dragged forcibly into the valleys of the poles.   Although they are diverse in their cultures, they are united in their beliefs. Their world is not to be shared, but select technologies are acceptable to sell to the Ershul in exchange for food. What is to be sold is decided by the venerable Technomancers/Techpriests/Metal-mages of each Burgh, and what is not sold is to be used by the people. In addition several mercenary companies exist, utilising the archaic weaponry and armour that the Technomancers allow no sale of. Again they do this in exchange of food.   The Tau Ceteans may war on one another during the Season of Metal and Fire, but when push comes to shove they unite universally, they share food and water when droughts and famine affect one Burgh, and they fight together against the many foreign invaders that have coveted the treasures of their worlds.   The world thinks Tau Ceti a world of savages, huddled in caves, fighting amongst each other for scraps in the sand. Tau Ceti is in no hurry to abuse them of this notion.

Geography

Dominated by a equatorial belt of desert and mountainous polar regions, there are no permanent seas. volcanic activity is widespread, especially during the season of fire.
Planetary years are 10 terran months.
Planetary days are 23 hours and 23.5 hours respectively.

Fauna & Flora

No native macrobiology
Microbial and single cell organisms survive in the lee of the mountains.

Natural Resources

Beneath the surface of the great desert a large number of starships lie buried, these become uncovered after the season of water, and during the season of earth scavengers scramble and fight for control over the most prominent.
From these wrecks ancient and advanced pieces of technology are recovered in addition to rare metals and databanks.
These wrecks are the primary source of Tau Cetean wealth, these rare artefacts are either traded off-world or utilised by the mercenary clans.
