The Orion-Cygnus Arm

Orion is some 3100 parsecs in length and nominally 1000 parsecs across lying 8600 parsecs from the galactic core. It contains some 100,000 stellar systems.
It is bordered Corewards by the Sagittarius-Carina arm, and Rimwards by the Perseus arm.
The Orion arm is the source of the majority of multisystem governments in the galaxy, and most of these are empires. The reason for this is the explosive expansion of the human race, and subsequently the races in close alliance with them. This was caused by their explosive birth rate in the golden era of capitalism, and although slowed by the first Orion war and the Djinn Secession it recommenced in force afterwards pushing outwards into the galaxy at large. This push was facilitated by the relative abundance of precious resources needed for early stage faster than light travel, and this advantage would lead to the Orion empires predominance in the other arms.
Orion has 3 major local groups, the Solar cluster, the Xunyou cluster, and the Hellenic cluster. Each has its own star groups and system traditions and the only prevalent unifying factor across all of them is a majority human population.
