The Laws of Burach

The founding document of The Burach Empire. Whenever a new Province or Territory joins the Empire, representatives of that region come to Altenheim to sign onto the original document. The publicly visible and most well known page is the list of crimes but the full document is several dozen pages that lay out the legal definitions of the crimes and the tiers of punishment.
The document remained unchanged since the founding of the Empire until a few decades ago. After the arrival of the Beast, the Hearthkeepers convinced the Emperor and all current signatories to approve adding a new first tier crime to the Laws.

Clauses

The document breaks down crimes into three categories that consist of three tiers of severity.

Caveats

Anyone who breaks a law laid out in this document is subject to the punishments appropriate for the tier of the transgression.

Publication Status

A copy of the Laws' crimes is posted in a visible and central area of all major Imperial settlements.

Legal status

This document is legally binding in all Provinces and Territories of The Burach Empire.

• Blasphemy against the Four Divines
• Practicing necromancy
• Allying with the Beast or its progeny

• Theft of holy property
• Assault or grave threats against members of the Hearthkeeper Church

• Vandalism of temples and shrines

Crimes against the State

First Tier

• Sabotage, Espionage and theft of state secrets

Second Tier

• Bearing false charges against an official

Third Tier

• Impersonating government officials
• Forgery of official documents
