Godfrey Grim, a former Paladin of Empyreus, lead 10.000 man against the Arcane Inquisition in rebellion against the genocide of arcane magic-users and died as Empyreus sent his angels to slaughter the new heretics.

Godfrey Grim was one of the highest serving paladins of Maligant in his time. fighting against eldritch an demonic forces he had the chance to fight side by side with his truest servants, counting Empyreus as one of them.   As Maligant perished, Godfrey served his successor for a few years and joined the ranks of the Castinellan provinces to support the theocratic state, which the archangel created. But soon his faith in the archangel faded as Empyreus was blinded by hate towards the demons. Yes the magic of demons stemmed from the arcane, but not all arcane magic was demonic.   So while Empyreus brought the Arcane Inquisition upon the poor folk of Castinella, Godfrey collected soldiers to rebell against the Zealots and blinded fanatics. He mustered an army of 10.000 people but as they seemed victorious against the troops of Castinella, Empyreus branded his former swordbrother as a heretic and sent his celestial guards after him.   Holy flame rained upon the battlefield as legions of angels swarmed the helpless troops. millions of swords sliced and carved through the bodies of the rebells and Godfrey Grim, the Betrayer, died but it seemed as If he never reached the Gates of Celestia.   A work of Empyreus maybe?
