Ethertide Treaty

The Ethertide Treaty marks the end of the War of Blades. It was created during a crisis meeting of the nations that was initiated as they had less and less warriors present protecting the inhabitants during the darker times of Etheriel.

Purpose

The treaty was created to document the agreement between the nations who seek for a solution to the bloody duels during the War of Blades. It is also an attempt to ensure enough warriors to protect the nations inhabitants.

Document Structure

Clauses

The treaty records the agreement between the nations to establish the neutral organization Ethertide Concordance that operates on neutral ground within Blade Valley. Furthermore, it specifies that each nation sends out a person or family to the organization as tribute and pledge for peace who will work within Ethertide Concordance as well as organizing and running the Unity Arena.   As the main arena rule, the document specifies that each duelant has to go through examinations and safety instructions before they are allowed to enter the arena.

Caveats

If one nation enters war with the other, the dispatched person or family doesn't have to follow the call for war as they have other obligations the moment they were sent out to serve the Ethertide Concordance.   The agreement encompasses the law that murder within duels is forbidden and is highly penalized if it happens intentionally.

Publication Status

The document is present in multiple copies with multiple languages for each of the species and nations. Most of the copies aren't publicly accessible as they are stashed within the respective archives of the nation's leaders. There is a copy of the first iteration of the treaty publicly available within the Legacy Library even though it can't be borrowed as it falls into the category of historic, protected documents.

Legal status

The Ethertide Treaty is considered a binding contract between the present parties. Each of the participating nations has the right to call for a round table to discuss and sanction contract breaches. Still, penalties will only be processed based on majority votes.
