Royal Leaders of the Realm of the Skies

The Fernwinds are the royal leaders, so-called elder of the skies, of the Realm of the Skies, where most of the avian folk live, for centuries. It is a constitutional, ceremonial, hereditary monarchy in which the oldest child, regardless if it is a son or a daughter, inherits the leading position as soon as the current royal leader either dies or passes off the title. One can't inherit the title if they have a spouse of a different species. The current elder of the skies are Qyak Fernwind and his wife Anua Fernwind. The next in line would have been Ranu Fernwind if he hadn't married the wood elf Desna. The next in line is his sister Khira followed by his youngest sibling Caben.
Avians generally live in clans that primarily consist of one or two families as they rarely leaving the family circle unless they marry into another family outside the clan. Each clan has a leader the so-called chieftain that can have a say in the formation of laws and moral rules within the regular clan meetings.
