A phylactery is an object designed to functionally store a Sophontic soul.

Well-made phylacteries allow the soul within to remain cognizent of their sense of self and the passage of time—two things which a lone soul is incapable of.

For a phylactery to be effective, the user must have a strong Impression of it.
