Cape of Balton
A divide in the nord
Balton, or the Cape of Balton, is one of the more unassuming aspects of the Mark and it's a region not pleased by being in the Mark. Ever since the Period of Chaos, the Nordmen of Balton have become more and more distant from their now island cousins. This makes the region a much more questionable travel location as outbreaks of violence are not uncommon, however the influence of the Mark makes the region still profitable, even if some risk is involved for trade.Henry Norwick, Travellers Guide to Evantian, Press of Wien, Wien, 1705.
Geography
Balton is a cold and snowy land, but not to an extreme level allowing some alternate forms of farming to be possible, the land is mostly small hills, with larger hills acting as a dividing from the rest of Evantian. The Cape sticks out into the Northern Seas between Step-zul and Norge, with many small lakes dotting the central and eastern areas of Balton.
Fauna & Flora
The animal life on Balton is some of the more brutal of Evantian, many dangerous creatures roam the forests, more so in the larger border hills. However these tend to avoid the roads and larger settlements.
The plantlife, is tough but lush. Large towering trees while short but strong grass cover the ground in and under the snow. Berry bushes and other food producing plants can be found in large amounts.
Natural Resources
Farming is while do-able, is not that easy, while grazzing is almost impossible. The main resources of Balton are the fishing off it's shores, and the vast forests across the entire of Balton.
