Southern Dithmarburg
There is two words that makes everyone understand the importance of the Dithmarburg Plateau... Heavenly Steel. Southern Dithmarburg is to put it nicely a sad but beautiful region to most, but to a miner or stone worker it is figurative and sometimes literal gold mine, and this brings much of the regions wealth. For a trader, this wealth can be important for any deal, however any traveller is likely to pass through this region due to it's central location. The region is split into the Duchy of Mundach, the Counties of Gunsbeck and Frankdal, and the Arteria of Tyrol.Henry Norwick, Travellers Guide to Evantian, Press of Wien, Wien, 1705.
Geography
Southern Dithmarburg is a dry, hot and desolate land without much to support life, a few rivers can be found and normally settlements will be on or near these but beyond that not much can be found. The region is mostly flat and surrounded by various mountain ranges, producing amazing views but making the further from these mountains you travel more dangerous. Föhn wind and cloud are common and create this enviroment, the winds being associtated with bad luck.
Fauna & Flora
Plant and animal lifeforms are much rarer in the South than other regions of Dithmarburg. However some more stubborn plants and more predatory animals can be found in the region. Llamas specifically are only known to naturally live in this region, more so on the rim of the region.
Natural Resources
While light on farm and timber products, Southern Dithmarburg is full of ore and stone that is extremely profitable for Dithmarburg as a whole. Heavenly Steel is almost exclusively created in this region and that alone brings wealth.
This wealth is what brings much of the regions population, creating a tense balance to keep the region supplied.
