The Zeelands

The land at sea

The Zeelands are a unique array of islands north of mainland Evantian, accounting for the islands of the Mark excluding Norge. The native population of the Zeelands enjoy an autonomous life within the Mark and from this have kept most people's from other lands out, only allowing small numbers of visitors and traders, and the occasional official from the Mark. Almost everyone who travels to the Zeelands will likely only visit one of the larger towns on the coast, and further inland travel is all but unheard of.

Geography

The Zeelands are an arcipelago located in the Northern Seas, north of Dithmarburg and east of Angelia, making up the western region of the Mark. The islands compared to other islands in the region are remarkably flat, with small hills being the only areas of elevation, this leaves the islands vunerable to flooding from storms from the frozen north.

Fauna & Flora

Animal life on the Zeelands is almost sterotypical of a fantasy land, however the difference is that their slightly more isolated existance (both natural and enforced) has breed slighty different breeds of wolfs or lifestock compared to their mainland or even other islands of Evantian.

Plants on the Zeelands, due to the islands flat, exposed nature are typically short and strong compared to the average specimen. This makes the lumber of the Zeelands sturdy and the grazzing plants more reliable, however these grasses are only ideal for animals local to the Zeelands.

Natural Resources

Zeeland timber is famous for it's tough, sturdy nature and is a prized commodity tightly controlled by the people of the Zeelands. Zeeland lifestock is also highly valued for it's tough nature, but is used more by locals so traded less, while the location and it's features make whaling and fishing common on the islands.
