Haphion

Goddess Haphion

The Goddess of Order. Architect of the Planes. Haphion was the second born of the Twins and the polar opposite of her elder sibling. Haphion is considered the "First Evil" and is reviled by almost all beings but respected in almost equal measure. Any being who seeks to improve themselves or aspires to greater things unconsciously calls upon Haphion's power and influence and it is strongly implied that she favours those who are willing to sacrifice in order to get what they want. It is her belief that an individual becomes greater through conflict and the heights they attain are greater when reached at the expense of others. In turn this new height helps propel the next individual to even greater heights in a never ending process that benefits the mortals as a collective. In this her end goal is the same as her siblings in that she wishes to raise the mortals to their fullest potential and only differs on the path by which they get there.

Personal history

Haphion was the Second Born of the Twins after the success that Nemera turned out to be. Unlike Nemera, Haphion was the centre of attention of all creation and would learn and develop under the tutelage of both her parents and her older sibling. As a result of this more structured development Haphion very rapidly came to appreciate the structure and order of her life but also developed an opposing moral code to Nemera, becoming the first "evil" being in creation. Haphion was also by far the most ambitious of the gods, constantly pushing the others to excel and develop even further as well as being the first to encourage the others to try out any new ideas as, unfortunately, she lacked the creative spark her other siblings possessed. Despite this she was a master at refining the experiments and ideas of the others into perfection and loved collaborating with her siblings in this regard.   When Haphion took the time to create her two Demigods she spent much longer than her peers, observing and discussing what the other Gods had done in order to form their own. As a result, other than Mymos, both of her Demigods are the youngest and were created at the same time. Zemotl was created in order to fulfil Haphion's desire to control the balance between the Demigods and Vysteus was born to control which the fate of the creations of the Gods. Both of them represent her desire for control and order in the multiverse and faithfully follow the desires of their parent. Despite never managing to create a successful hybrid species, such as the Angels, it is widely believed that Haphion manipulated their creation somehow in order to bring about their corruption to her side eventually.   When the Gods created the Inner Planes and mortals Haphion was instrumental in bringing the ideas into fruition. Her work is visible in every part of those planes as, despite the overarching idea being Nemera's, Haphion was the principal architect for the laws and structures that were placed in the world we know today. She was also the first to realise that the power of the Gods was so great that they could never interfere directly with the planes or their inhabitants for risk of destroying all they had created. As a result she was the one who implemented the restrictions and limitations that would prevent the Gods from interacting in any way that would cause irrevocable damage. When mortal life was finally introduced she was enthralled with the almost unlimited potential of the mortal races and desired to make them perfect, believing that conflict and competition would bring the mortal races to divinity in the most efficient way.   The desire to bring about conflict and growth were what would lead Haphion to corrupt the Angelic race, leading Samael and Jophiel (now known as Lucifer and Mephistopheles) to rebel against the other Angels and the wishes of their parent Gods. While her intent was to use the rebel Angels as a tool to force the mortals to fight and grow it also lead to open conflict in the Outer Planes, the first angelic deaths and almost lead to open conflict between herself and Tyrarr who was disgusted at the manipulation of his children. Fortunately the intervention of the Archangel Azrael and the Twins lead to an end to the hostilities and Haphion made peace with her siblings as well. While her servants are now considered the mortal enemies of most good aligned forces there was no actual ill will remaining between the Gods and peace reigned once more.   Haphion has watched the rise of the Living Gods with great interest, despite not having her own, and sees great potential in what she sees as the current pinnacle of power for mortalkind. She in particular is inspired by the conflict and developments the Living Gods inspire and seeks to utilise these events to further manipulate the development of mortals to even greater heights. While she helps and hinders in equal measure, showing no particular favouritism in the eternal contest she tries to create, she has vowed to strike out at the Slayer and her followers whenever possible, seeking revenge for the loss of her dear brother and any who would strike out against her family.
