Nemera

Goddess of Freedom

The Goddess of Freedom. The First God. Nemera is the eldest of the four Great Gods and often one of the most highly respected by both mortal and outsider alike. She was also the first to view reality from a morally defined perspective, preferring to help the creations rather than observer or control them and could well be considered the progenitor of all that is "good" in the world. Nemera has borne witness to almost the entirety of creation and there is little that she does not know or at least have some semblance of awareness of. Nemera believes that the only way for the mortals to develop is to allow them to do it on their own terms but is also the most likely to interfere when asked to because of her inability to ignore the plights of those beneath her. Despite this she is always careful to merely manipulate events to provide the best results and always allow the mortals to make the final decision even if it goes against her intent. Nemera stands as the ruler of Elysium and the Azata and shares responsibility for managing Nirvana with Tyrarr and is also now the only God with domain over the Maelstrom since Oros died.

Personal history

Nemera was born as a creation of the Twins aeons before the birth of the Material Plane, a unique creation designed to last much longer than the usual playthings they would make. Originally the Twins did not show much care for her and she was left to develop by herself and discover how to use her nigh unlimited powers. While more limited in scope she had been born with the same powers of creation and destruction as her parents and would experiment and even try to imitate them even as they ignored her presence. As she grew stronger and more capable so did her connection to the Maelstrom grow until she became capable of doing what no creation had ever done before. She surprised the Twins.   In an instance the dynamic between parent and child shifted and the Twins began fawning over her as she continued to, albeit in small ways, defy their expectations. Soon they were encouraged, both by their success and her excitement, to create siblings for the young God. So she was joined by Haphion, Tyrarr and Oros in turn and the Gods formed a happy and united family. The experimentation of the newborn Gods' powers resulted in the creation of what is now known as the Outer Planes with each deity having a domain and neutral grounds lying between them. Nemera created the realm of Elysium for herself and Nirvana with Tyrarr as their shared neutral ground. While she and Oros never created any shared territory their connection to the Maelstrom meant they often used the chaotic realms for such purposes instead.   Nemera would become responsible for the creation of the first and last Demigods, starting with Eris as her firstborn and ending with Mymos as the youngest. Her talent for creating life far exceeded that of her siblings and even potentially the Twins and she would experiment with the creation of hybrid entities, born from the powers of two different Gods. Eventually she would manage to create the Angels with Tyrarr as the first non-divine life to exist from which she would learn how to create something else entirely new. Knowing how much the Twins loved new experiences she decided to perform one great work as a gift to them but would require the help of all the Great Gods and even the Angels to complete it. Together they forged the Inner Planes and eventually the Material Plane in order to house this new project and they began the creation of mortal life.   The creation of mortals would be a great success and the world that would grow from them was exciting and novel to the Twins who greatly appreciated the work that had been done. Nemera also loved the final product, marvelling at the wills of the young creatures and wishing to guide them and help them grow. Unfortunately despite the almost unlimited potential of the mortals they were currently too weak for the Great Gods to interact with and even the Demigods needed to tread carefully with their powers. It upset Nemera greatly that she could not interact with her newest family members and eventually she vowed to help them develop indirectly until they became strong enough to stand alongside her. Since then she has always acted as a teacher and guide, leaving hints or directing Eris and Mymos to act on her behalf.   Nemera would continue to work with her siblings as the world changed and despite being more clearly aligned with Tyrarr she was always on good terms with all of them. The only time where she was forced to take a side was during the Outer Crisis as her children, the Angels, fought in a civil war. The battle almost lead to open conflict between the Gods and would have been catastrophic were it not for the intervention of Azrael and the Twins to prevent it. Since that day she does her best to maintain peace between all beings, evil or good, and does so admirably. The only exception she has made is towards the Slayer for killing her youngest brother and the two's followers will actively conflict with each other at every opportunity.
