Emperor Novaris marched on the magocracy of Varean, in the attempt to expand his empire. To his surprise, found little resistance. From then on, Varean became a colony of the Empire, providing arcane services in exchange for natural resources and military assistance.

Emperor Conláed Novaris, now mature, older, sought to reclaim all that he had lost in the fallout of Dural's attack, turning his attention to the now founded Magocracy of Varean - a neighbouring continent. He assembled a strong army of soldiers and sailed them across the sea to occupy the land, and found little resistance, for the new magi that had assembled society there were lacking in resources, power, and protection against new creatures that had emerged from the dark corners of the land. A bloodless venture, a democratic treaty reached, and Varean found itself assimilated into the Novarian Empire. This new cooperative treaty brought mages across the waters into Aressa, with it, bringing unrest with the less arcane inclined.
